Digital Narcolepsy

So, my studio PC developed a case of narcolepsy. It would be sitting there humming along while I made this sci-fi fighting game, #FutureFighter and then BAM. Lights out. After a few seconds, lights on. Narcolepsy, right? Since I did not have any Ritalin or Prozac on me, I had to resort to other measures. So, I gave the PC a physical and low and behold it was worse than I thought. I found a slight case of congestive heart failure.
The thing that pumps energy into all of the components of the computer, the power supply unit (PSU), was only delivering 11.41 V down the 12 V bus on the motherboard whereas in the past it was upwards of 11.7 V. Combined with the lights out phenomenon, this slow steady drop over the past almost 8 years signaled to me that the PSU was on its way out.
Fortunately, a heart transplant on a PC is much easier than a human being, and the awesome builders of my PC, SilentPC.com, helped me find the right replacement as they always do. Download the video on my website to see and then follow me as we put this new Corsair RM 850x to the #FutureFighter test.
